For this notary’s office, located in an old textile factory, we went to work with daylight. The rectangular space is quite deep with only windows on one side. The notary’s office was developed in a completely transparent way, with purely acoustic glass partitions between all the rooms. In this way the daylight penetrates into the deepest spaces.
A black wooden wall cupboard all around encloses the transparent notary and thus forms an organizing element that encloses everything. In this wall cupboard a sea of folders and files, hidden from the eye. Entrance is via a low dark corridor in this wall cupboard that leads to the light and transparent notary with high ceilings. A feeling of decompression.
A completely transparent notary’s office is also symbolic, reflecting the ambiance and transparency of contemporary society. The different rooms can be visually separated by means of curtains. These acoustic curtains give this contemporary notary’s office a homely feeling, which also contributes to the intended ambiance. Line lighting that follows the profiling of the glass accentuates the linear character of the intervention.
